Job summary

SAM is seeking a Damage Prevention Field Technician to protect underground infrastructure and promote safe excavation practices. You will leverage your locating expertise to identify and mark utilities, support public safety, and collaborate with homeowners, contractors, and utility stakeholders in the field.

Requirements include a high school diploma, prior utility experience, and a valid driver''s license.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Prior utility experience required.
• Ability to read and interpret utility maps, prints, and records.
• Valid driver''s license and ability to meet company MVR standards.

Responsibilities

• Visit active job sites to monitor excavation activities and ensure safe digging practices.
• Identify and mark underground utility lines using industry-standard equipment.
• Verify the accuracy of utility markings and perform remark requests as needed.
• Investigate potential conflicts, discrepancies, and damage prevention concerns in the field.
• Work directly with homeowners, contractors, excavators, and utility crews to promote safe digging awareness and resolve site-related issues.
• Maintain accurate records of locate activities, site visits, communications, and field observations using company software and mobile technology.
• Conduct quality assurance checks to ensure locating and marking activities meet company, client, and regulatory requirements.
• Respond to emergency locate requests and time-sensitive field situations as needed.
