Job summary

Timmons Group seeks an Underground Utility Locator to join the Survey Group in our Richmond, VA office. The role locates and marks underground utilities for various projects and can involve in-office and field work for the right candidate.

Ideal candidates have SUE designation/field survey experience and ASCE 38-02 knowledge. A federal security clearance may be required, with AutoCAD experience considered a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with 5 years of SUE designation and field survey experience.
• Knowledge of ASCE 38-02 standards and quality levels.
• Experience with robotic total stations, data collectors and GPS.
• Ability to obtain and hold a federal security clearance.
• AutoCAD experience is a plus.
• Valid NC driver license and a good driving record.
• Willingness to travel occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Provide underground utility flagging designation with electromagnet equipment and geophysical means.
• Designate all utility line types that could affect excavation.
• Mark utilities with flags/paint and sketch results for client use.
• Learn survey control and perform locations using conventional survey equipment.
• Oversee maintenance of survey equipment, supplies and vehicle.
• Work in a team environment and, when needed, independently.
