Qualifications

Timmons Group is always accepting applications for a Underground Utility Locator to join our Survey group for future opportunities. While we may not have an immediate opening, we will keep your resume and information for future opportunities.

Job Responsibilities

The Underground Utility Locator assists the survey crew by locating and marking underground utilities for various projects. Essential duties include but are not limited to:

• Providing underground utility flagging "designation" with proficiency utilizing electromagnet equipment and other geophysical means.
• Designating all utility line types of conductive or non-conductive materials including water, sewer, gas, electric, fiber optic, PVC, and others that could affect excavation.
• Marking utilities with flags and/or paint and producing sketches of results for client use.
• Learning to establish survey control and perform location markings using conventional survey equipment, including robotic total stations and RTK GPS technology.
• Overseeing maintenance of survey equipment, supplies, and vehicle.
• Working effectively in a team environment and independently when required.

Skills and Requirements

The successful candidate should have:

• High school diploma/GED and ideally five (5) years of SUE designation and field survey experience.
• A clear understanding of ASCE 38-02 standards and quality levels.
• Experience with robotic total stations, data collectors, and GPS is preferred.
• The ability to obtain and hold a federal security clearance.
• AutoCAD experience is a plus.
• A valid NC driver’s license and a good driving record.
• Willingness to travel occasionally.
