Job summary

Zachry Underground and Utility Services seeks a Utility Laborer to perform varied tasks on underground utility projects in Texas. You’ll use hand and power tools, dig trenches, and handle materials while supporting other craft workers.

Expect to work up to 55 hours weekly, with opportunities for growth in a family-owned company focused on integrity, teamwork, and delivering quality infrastructure.

Qualifications

• Physical ability to perform labor tasks, including climbing ladders and entering ditches.
• Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.
• General labor skills and familiarity with construction environments.
• Basic knowledge of operating hand and power tools like hammers, sledgehammers, pry bars, and screwdrivers.
• Dependable, self-motivated, and task-oriented with a strong work ethic.

Responsibilities

• Operate hand and power tools such as hammers, sledgehammers, pry bars, and screwdrivers.
• Hand-dig trenches with shovels for conduit placement around live utility services.
• Operate a jackhammer weighing 10–90 pounds, vertically and horizontally.
• Use asphalt and quickie saws for cutting materials.
• Operate a tamper in ditches and confined areas.
• Drive a single-axle dump truck (CDL not required).
• Pull and maneuver utility trailers safely.
• Operate small equipment such as mini excavators and trench rollers.
• Handle and assemble 20-foot pipe joints in ditches 2–4 feet deep.
• Climb ladders and work at various elevations.
• Load and unload materials such as lumber, plywood, cement bags, etc.
• Maintain availability 7:00 a.m.–5:30 p.m., up to 55 hours/week.
• Assist other craft workers and perform other labor-related duties.
