Job summary

• 5+ years in underground utility construction with leadership experience.
• Ability to read civil/electrical blueprints, survey data, and project specs.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA, MUTCD, and regional installation standards.
• Experience using digital timekeeping and production tracking systems.
• Valid driver’s license; ability to operate company vehicles.
• OSHA 10 certification.

As an Underground Utility Crew Lead, you will spearhead field operations focused on the installation of critical electrical infrastructure and traffic signal systems. Responsibilities

• Interpret complex engineering plans and survey layouts to ensure precise installation of conduit, ground boxes, and utility infrastructure.
• Direct daily field activities including trenching, potholing, and concrete finishing while maintaining strict grade control.
• Enforce rigorous safety standards, including OSHA compliance, trench safety, and traffic control procedures, through daily hazard assessments.
• Manage site resources, including material staging, equipment allocation, and tool maintenance to optimize crew productivity.
• Utilize digital project management software to track labor, production metrics, and material usage for accurate reporting.
• Mentor and develop crew members, fostering a culture of technical excellence and professional growth.
• Coordinate with inspectors, subcontractors, and project stakeholders to resolve field challenges and ensure project milestones are met.

Qualifications

Required Skills

• 5+ years of experience in underground utility construction with a proven track record of leadership.
• Expertise in reading civil and electrical blueprints, survey data, and project specifications.
• Strong working knowledge of OSHA, MUTCD, and regional infrastructure installation standards.
• Proficiency in using digital timekeeping and production tracking systems.
• Valid driver’s license with the ability to operate company vehicles.
• OSHA 10 certification.

Preferred Skills

• OSHA 30 certification and specialized training in trench excavation or confined space entry.
• Bilingual communication skills in English and Spanish.
• Advanced experience with heavy equipment operation and maintenance.
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex site logistics and conflict resolution.
