RPM Utilities LLC is seeking an experienced Underground Utility Foreman to lead field crews on underground utility construction projects in Texas. The Foreman will ensure safety, maintain production schedules, and uphold quality standards on active sites.

Responsibilities include coordinating daily work, reading blueprints, supervising installation and trenching, and enforcing OSHA safety practices. Candidates should have 3–5 years of related experience and be able to lead and train crews.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of underground utility construction experience
  • Foreman/Leadman/Crew Leader experience preferred
  • Experience with underground water, sewer, storm drainage, conduit or related utilities
  • Ability to read construction plans and utility drawings
  • Experience operating around excavators, backhoes, loaders, dozers, skid steers
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record preferred

Job description

RPM Utilities is seeking an experienced Underground Utility Foreman to lead and supervise field crews performing underground utility construction. The Foreman is responsible for the safe and efficient completion of assigned projects while maintaining production schedules, quality standards, and jobsite safety requirements.

The ideal candidate has hands-on experience with underground utility installation, heavy equipment, excavation, trenching, and leading construction crews.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and supervise underground utility crews on active construction projects.
  • Coordinate daily work assignments and communicate expectations to crew members.
  • Oversee the installation, repair, and replacement of underground utility systems.
  • Perform and supervise excavation, trenching, grading, backfilling, and compaction activities.
  • Read and interpret construction plans, specifications, blueprints, and utility drawings.
  • Verify proper line, grade, depth, and placement of utility installations.
  • Coordinate equipment, materials, and manpower needed to complete daily production goals.
  • Work closely with Superintendents, Project Managers, inspectors, subcontractors, and other field personnel.
  • Monitor job progress and communicate scheduling, production, or site concerns to management.
  • Conduct daily jobsite and safety inspections.
  • Ensure employees follow OSHA requirements, company safety policies, and proper excavation and trench safety procedures.
  • Conduct or participate in daily safety meetings and toolbox talks.
  • Ensure proper use and care of company vehicles, tools, and heavy equipment.
  • Track employee hours and verify crew timecards as required.
  • Maintain accurate daily reports, production records, and job documentation.
  • Identify utility conflicts and assist with resolving field conditions.
  • Ensure work areas are maintained in a safe, organized, and professional manner.
  • Train, coach, and develop crew members on proper construction methods and safety practices.
  • Address performance, attendance, safety, or conduct concerns with management and Human Resources.
  • Perform hands-on field work as needed to support the crew and maintain production.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 3–5 years of underground utility construction experience preferred.
  • Previous experience as a Foreman, Leadman, or Crew Leader strongly preferred.
  • Experience with underground water, sewer, storm drainage, conduit, or related utility construction.
  • Strong knowledge of excavation, trenching, shoring, backfilling, and compaction procedures.
  • Ability to read construction plans, utility drawings, and specifications.
  • Experience operating or working around excavators, backhoes, loaders, dozers, skid steers, and other heavy equipment.
  • Strong understanding of construction jobsite safety requirements.
  • Ability to effectively supervise and motivate field employees.
  • Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and make sound field decisions.
  • Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record preferred.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish is preferred.
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification is preferred.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, climb, and perform physical construction activities throughout the workday.
  • Ability to safely work around trenches, excavation areas, heavy equipment, and active construction sites.
  • Ability to lift and carry construction materials and equipment as required.
  • Must be able to work extended hours, early mornings, and overtime based on project needs.
