Job summary

The City of Atlanta is seeking a DWM Utility Locate Technician to perform semi-skilled locating of water and sewer infrastructure, resolve 811 locate requests, and maintain accurate records using GPS, GIS, and mapping software.

You will work with minimal supervision, operate City vehicles, and be prepared for outdoor work in various weather conditions, with overtime and weekend hours as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and 1 year utility locate experience.
• Valid Georgia driver's license.
• Preferred: 3 years of utility locate experience.

Responsibilities

• Searches for and locates underground water and sewer infrastructure and marks locations, resolving locate requests (811).
• Locates water mains, service lines, and meters to prevent third party damages during excavations.
• Assesses and reports water leaks.
• Operates a City vehicle safely.
• Researches and interprets utility records.
• Contacts customers and contractors.
