Position Overview:
We are seeking a hardworking and dependable Underground Utilities Laborer to join our team. This role involves performing physically demanding tasks on building, highway, heavy construction, excavation, and demolition projects. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working outdoors in various conditions and be capable of operating a variety of hand and power tools.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist with the installation, repair, and maintenance of underground utilities.
Operate tools and equipment such as air hammers, tampers, and cement mixers.
Prepare and clean construction sites by removing debris and potential hazards.
Excavate and backfill trenches manually or with machinery.
Signal and assist equipment operators to ensure safe movement and alignment of machinery and materials.
Direct and control traffic near and within work zones for safety.
Maintain tools and equipment by cleaning and lubricating them regularly.
Support skilled tradespeople and follow instructions from supervisors and foremen.
Preferred Qualifications:
Valid Driver's License (required).
Ability to work as part of a team in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.
Physical & Environmental Requirements:
Must be able to bend, squat, push, pull, crawl, kneel, climb, and balance.
Frequent reaching above shoulder height and crouching.
Repetitive movement of both feet and use of both hands for grasping and manipulation.
Must be able to stand for up to 4 hours and walk for up to 3 hours during an 8-hour shift.
Frequently lift and carry loads up to 24 lbs.
Exposure to outdoor elements, including extreme weather, dust, fumes, and noise.
Work around moving machinery and in environments with variable temperatures and humidity.
