Job summary

Race Communications seeks an Underground Laborer to support construction, maintenance, and operation of underground telecom infrastructure. The role involves hands-on work in excavation and cable installation, operating equipment, and maintaining a safe work environment.

Travel to Race offices and other sites is a requirement. Applicants should have strong teamwork, safety awareness, and the ability to train others.

Qualifications

• US employment eligibility without sponsorship
• Minimum 18 years of age
• Associate degree or equivalent preferred
• High School Diploma or GED required
• Valid driver's license and DMV checks
• Ability to travel up to 50% across CA markets
• Experience in sales roles, training or coaching is preferred
• English communication skills; Spanish desirable

Responsibilities

• Lead underground labor team and allocate tasks
• Coordinate with project managers and engineers
• Manage equipment, materials and labor efficiently
• Ensure work meets quality standards and safety regulations
• Address issues and make timely decisions to keep projects on track
• Maintain accurate progress reports and documentation
• Communicate with clients and stakeholders for updates
• Train and mentor team members on best practices and safety
• Oversee equipment maintenance and site safety
• Travel to multiple sites and manage on-site logistics
• Observe safety procedures and complete required safety paperwork
• Assist supervisor with mid-level tasks and team coordination
