Job summary

Underground Project requires an experienced Superintendent to lead underground development and infrastructure construction for the Underground Project onsite. You will coordinate daily activities between contractors and Project Management across development and execution projects.

Responsibilities include maintaining the Master Project Schedule, ensuring work quality, and reporting deviations to senior staff. Strong scheduling, MS Office skills, and a safety-focused mindset are essential.

Qualifications

  • 7–10 years of underground mine experience.
  • Experience with scheduling software such as DESWIK.sched.
  • Scheduling experience with Microsoft Projects.
  • Strong computer literacy including MS Office.
  • Willingness to see projects through to completion.

  • Maintain Master Project Schedule and update deviations from baseline.
  • Ensure works meet end-user requirements and are fit for purpose.
  • Review drawings and specifications and ensure document control is followed.
  • Support updated forecasts and budgets with management.
  • Collaborate with Cost Controller and Purchasing for timely performance reporting.
  • Promote safety and environmental initiatives and compliance.

Underground Project Superintendent
Job Description

The purpose of the role is to establish and manage underground development and infrastructure construction activities for the Underground Project being undertaken by the mine. Co-ordinate the daily activities between contractors and Project Management for the various development and execution projects being undertaken onsite.

Operational Responsibilities
  • Ensure communication with the Contractor, Operations, and the Project Management for all daily, weekly, and monthly mine plans and schedules.
  • Coordinate functions during the development, approval, and execution phases of Capital Works.
  • Maintain Master Project Schedule — ensure schedule reflects asbuilts and weekly progress update the Technical services and Senior Project Engineer of deviations from baseline
  • Ensure all works under area of control are completed to a standard that is fit for purpose and meets the end users’ requirements.
  • Other tasks as assigned by Management
Project Management
  • Support project execution to meet technical, quality, budgetary, and scheduling requirements.
  • Review construction drawings and specification set out by the designer.
  • Ensure document control standards are followed throughout the life of the project.
  • Support development of updated forecasts and budget with senior level and management.
  • Collaborate with Cost Controller and Purchasing to ensure performance reporting is complete within deadlines.
Health, Safety, and Environment
  • Comply with the Company Health and Safety Policy and Environment Policy.
  • Promoting safety awareness and environmental responsibility amongst company and contract personnel.
  • Report all personal injuries and incidents and assisting with investigations.
  • Actively supporting and participate in safety and environmental initiatives.
  • Accepting accountability to ensure personal safety and the safety of others whilst protecting the environment.
  • Monitor the reporting of workplace incidents and hazards to ensure effective risk mitigation is maintained.
  • Undertake workplace inspections and audits to ensure site standards are being adhered to.
  • Support incident investigations that occur within area of control.
Qualifications:
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or related field
Experience
  • 7 — 10 years of underground experience is preferred
  • Experience in mine planning using DESWIK.sched or other scheduling software’s (previous experience with DESWIK.sched will be highly regarded).
  • Experience in scheduling with Microsoft Projects preferred
  • Previous experience in civil or mining construction highly regarded
  • Strong computer literacy skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office and industry standard software
  • Positive attitude, strong work ethic, flexibility, and willingness to see projects through to completion are a must.
