Job Summary:

We are seeking an Excavator to join our team. Responsibilities include operating heavy equipment on residential and commercial job sites. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong communication skills, work well in group settings, be safety-conscious, and able to work independently. We value individuals who are receptive to new ideas and cross-training, with the ability to review processes and implement ongoing improvements.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Safely operate heavy equipment, including large excavators, dozers, graders, and loaders for commercial construction projects.
  2. Perform deep trench work, including the use of trench boxes and shoring, digging up to 20' deep depending on the project.
  3. Read and interpret grade and slope stakes and simple plans for accurate equipment operation.
  4. Perform daily safety and maintenance checks of machinery to ensure optimal operation.
  5. Coordinate with site supervisors to plan, organize, and execute activities related to earthmoving, site preparation, and material handling.
  6. Assist in loading and transporting materials and equipment to and from the job site.
  7. Ensure compliance with safety regulations and report any incidents or unsafe conditions to the site manager immediately.
  8. Manage and maintain logs of equipment use, maintenance, and repair.

Qualifications:

  1. Proven experience operating large-scale heavy construction equipment, particularly big excavators and deep trench work.
  2. Valid operator's license and clean driving record.
  3. Strong understanding of construction operations and safety practices, with an emphasis on working safely around utilities and in tight spaces.
  4. Physical fitness to handle manual and machinery operations.
  5. Ability to work early mornings, weekends, and in varying weather conditions as project demands.
  6. Good communication skills and ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
  7. High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification in heavy equipment operation preferred.
  8. OSHA 10 certification preferred.
  9. CDL Class A preferred.
  10. Commitment to safety, especially when team members are working in trenches.
