Job summary

Sundt Construction is seeking a helper for underground utilities in the Sparks, NV area. Prefer 6 months to 1 year of experience; heavy civil or pipeline experience preferred. Pay is $35/hr depending on experience; $120 per diem for qualified candidates over 90 miles; work schedule is 50 hours per week; project duration is about 1 year.

Assist skilled craft workers and learn safety practices; must pass a pre-employment drug test and be available for overtime as needed.

Qualifications

  • NCCER Core Curriculum and/or a High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience in industrial/construction (1–3+ years) preferred.
  • Must pass pre-employment drug test and be available for overtime.

Responsibilities

  • Perform basic arithmetic operations accurately (add, subtract, multiply, divide).
  • Eliminate waste such as waiting, rework, transport, and excess material handling.
  • Ask a supervisor before continuing if unsure about any aspect of the work or safety issues.
  • Identify and learn safety hazards related to the work.
  • Learn to safely use or operate tools and equipment related to the job.
  • Seek opportunities for improvement in tasks, methods, and processes.
  • Maintain positive relationships within the crew.
  • Produce high-quality work safely and efficiently at all times.
  • Provide feedback to ensure materials, tools, and information are available for work.

Sewer systems, storm drains, water lines; heavy civil or pipeline experience preferred; must pass pre-employment drug test and must be available for overtime as needed; Pay is $35/hr depending on experience; $120 days worked per diem for qualified candidates over 90 miles; work schedule is 50 hours per week, and anticipated project duration is approximately 1 year.

Job Summary

Assist skilled craft workers in performing their assigned duties. Work in other crafts at levels appropriate to training and skills as requested by project supervision. Must have the ability to take direction from a higher skilled worker or foreman.

Minimum Job Requirements
  • NCCER Core Curriculum and /or a High School diploma or equivalent is also preferred.
  • One year experience (level I), two years' experience (level II) and three plus years' experience in the industrial/commercial construction industry is preferred.
  • Possess effective verbal and written communication skills.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment is required (including but not limited to; steel toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hardhat, vest, etc.)
  • May reach above shoulder heights and below the waist on a frequent basis
  • May stoop, kneel, or bend, on an occasional basis
  • May use telephone, computer system, email, or other electronic devices on a limited basis to communicate with internal and external customers or vendors
  • Move in and around confined, cluttered and uneven areas.
  • Must be able to comply with all safety standards and procedures
  • Required to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects on a frequent basis
  • Will climb and maintain balance on steel/wood framework, stairs, ladders and scaffolds.
  • Will lift, push or pull objects up to 50 Ibs. on an occasional basis
  • Work up to a 12 hour shift doing hard physical work in varying temperatures and outside conditions.
