Job summary

Sundt Construction is seeking an Excavator Operator in Sparks, NV. The role requires operating heavy equipment (primarily excavators) with a focus on safety, efficiency, and reliability. Overtime may be required, with pre-employment drug testing and a per diem for qualified candidates traveling 90+ miles.

  • Must have a minimum of three years (level I), four years (level II), five years (level III) and six plus years’ experience in the industrial/construction industry and have an in-depth understanding of the operation of various types of heavy construction equipment.
  • Must be able to read and understand drawings, specifications, safety and quality standards and effectively utilize all trade tools and equipment relevant to the work.
  • Possess effective verbal and written communication skills.

Job Description

Excavator Operator: Must have at least 2 years' experience operating heavy equipment Excavator; preferred experience in underground utility such as sewer system, storm drain, water line; excavation and shoring experience a plus; heavy civil or pipeline experience preferred; must be available for overtime as needed; must pass pre-employment drug testing; pay is $45/hr. depending on experience and abilities; $120 days worked per diem for qualified candidates over 90 miles; work schedule 50 hours; anticipated project duration is approximately 1 year.


Job Summary

Safely operates a variety of heavy equipment, not limited to; backhoes, excavators, dozers, loaders, graders, haul trucks, dump trucks, water trucks. Will be responsible for preventative maintenance and pre-shift walk around of the assigned equipment to assure safe operation.

Physical Requirements


  • Work up to a 12 hour shift doing hard physical work in varying temperatures and outside conditions.

  • Will climb and maintain balance on steel/wood framework, stairs, ladders and scaffolds.

  • Will lift, push or pull objects up to 50lbs. on an occasional basis.

  • Required to use hands to grasp, lift, handle, carry or feel objects on a frequent basis.

  • Must be able to comply with all safety standards and procedures.

  • May reach above shoulder heights and below the waist on a frequent basis.

  • May stoop, kneel, or bend, on an occasional basis.

  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment is required (including but not limited to; steel toed shoes, gloves, safety glasses, hearing protection, hardhat, vest, etc.)

  • Move in and around confined, cluttered and uneven areas.
