Job summary

Branch Builds, Inc. is seeking a skilled Pipe Layer to join our established Civil Division in Virginia Beach.

The Pipe Layer is responsible for preparing and installing underground pipelines for road construction and reports to the Pipe Foreman. Responsibilities include laying out pipe routes, cutting pipes to length, aligning and positioning pipes for welding or sealing, and connecting joints while coordinating with supervisors to meet project timelines and safety standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• 3 to 5 years of underground pipe laying experience.
• 2 to 4 years of road construction experience preferred.
• Knowledgeable of pipe laying techniques.
• Have a sense of urgency to meet deadlines.
• Accomplish goals in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Install sanitary and storm water sewer structures and pipe systems.
• Lay out pipe routes, following specifications or blueprints, and coordinating layouts with supervisor.
• Cut pipes to required lengths.
• Align and position pipes to prepare them for welding or sealing.
• Check slopes for conformance to requirements, using levels or lasers.
• Connect pipe pieces and seal joints, using welding equipment, cement or glue.
• Tap and drill holes into pipes to introduce auxiliary lines or devices.
• Cover pipes with earth or other materials.
• Grade and level trench bases, using tamping machines and hand tools.
• Other general labor and construction related duties as required.
• Promote and adhere to the company’s safety program.
