Job summary

Morton Salt, Inc. at Weeks Island seeks a Project Engineer to apply engineering knowledge to project planning and execution. Responsibilities include preparing capital/expense projects, supervising contractors, coordinating with maintenance teams, and updating mine maps and daily production records.

Independent work with minimal instruction is required. Responsibilities extend to mine inspections, ventilation studies, and supporting engineers with day-to-day operational advice across projects.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of project management.
• Able to apply mining engineering principles to actual situations.
• Able to plan, organize and carry out project assignments from conception to completion.
• Able to supervise others.

Responsibilities

• Conduct feasibility studies for proposed or assigned projects, including data collection, cost/time estimation, and recommendations.
• Prepare and submit expense and capital projects for facility purchases and follow up for review.
• Design, develop and supervise engineering projects.
• Maintain project records and mine drawing records.
• Coordinate with buyers, vendors and contractors on equipment and service purchases and inspect deliveries.
