Job summary

Kinross Gold Corporation's Round Mountain operation in Nevada seeks an experienced UG Mine General Supervisor to lead underground crews in development and production, ensuring safety, compliance, and efficiency. You will coordinate across engineering, safety, maintenance, and operations to execute plans while maintaining high standards of performance and incident prevention.

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license.
• High school diploma or equivalent; technical training, associate or bachelor’s degree in mining/engineering/related field preferred.
• Minimum of six (6) years underground mining experience; at least three (3) years in supervisory role.
• Proven experience leading underground crews in development, production, ground support, drilling and blasting, mucking, haulage, mine services, or rehabilitation.
• Strong knowledge of MSHA requirements, underground mining regulations, and Nevada safety standards.
• MSHA Part 48 Underground training current or ability to obtain before starting underground work; annual refresher as required.
• Ability to interpret mine plans, ground support standards, and shift priorities.
• Proven leadership, accountability, conflict resolution, coaching, and credibility with hourly employees and contractors.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; capable of documenting shift activity and reports.
• Strong planning, organization, and problem solving; ability to make timely decisions in changing underground conditions.

Responsibilities

• Lead underground crews to meet daily, weekly, and monthly development and production targets.
• Plan and assign work for drilling, blasting, ground support, bolting, mucking, haulage, and mine services.
• Conduct pre-shift meetings and communicate daily objectives; review hazards and equipment availability.
• Coordinate with Mine Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Safety, and other groups to meet plans and standards.
• Ensure crews are trained, competent, and properly assigned for tasks with required PPE.
• Maintain field presence to inspect headings and ensure safe practices.
• Mitigate hazards related to ground conditions, ventilation, equipment, traffic and utilities.
• Ensure pre-operational inspections, document deficiencies, and escalate as needed.
• Prioritize repairs and coordinate asset availability with Maintenance.
• Review compliance with mine designs, ventilation, barricading, permits, and SOPs.
