Job summary

FPC Franchise is seeking an Assistant Plant Manager to oversee safety, MSHA compliance, and mining operations at an underground facility. The role combines regulatory leadership with hands-on engineering oversight and production management to drive safety culture and performance.

The position will evolve to emphasize operations leadership, capital projects, and long-term mine planning, with a strong focus on regulatory compliance and safety excellence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or closely related discipline.
• Minimum of four years of experience in underground mining operations.
• Strong working knowledge of MSHA regulations, compliance requirements, and underground mine safety practices.
• Experience with mine planning, ventilation, roof control, mine design, and mining advancements.
• Experience overseeing engineering projects, contractors, and capital improvements.
• Mine Rescue experience is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of bulk solids handling, industrial equipment, and underground mining operations.
• Experience using AutoCAD or similar engineering and mine design software.

Responsibilities

• Lead site EHS and MSHA compliance performance and governance.
• Coordinate mine planning, ventilation, roof control, and long-term development.
• Supervise surface production operations to meet safety and production targets.
• Manage engineering projects and capital improvements with internal and external teams.
• Provide engineering support for facility design, troubleshooting, and capital planning.
• Prepare technical reports and capital expenditure recommendations.
