Job summary

Congruex is hiring a UG Laborer to support underground utility construction activities and aid equipment operators. You will perform trenching, conduit placement, site preparation, and restoration while emphasizing safety and teamwork on the jobsite.

Key duties include assisting with excavation, shoring, backfilling, and material handling. A high school diploma and valid driver’s license are required, with prior construction knowledge preferred.

  • Attend and participate in daily safety meetings and huddles.

  • Maintain safe, efficient jobsite operations and teamwork.

Job Summary

As the UG Laborer, you will ultimately be responsible for supporting underground utility construction activities, assisting equipment operators, and maintaining safe and efficient jobsite operations. You will perform manual labor tasks related to trenching, conduit placement, site preparation, and restoration. Your customers are internal construction crews and external utility clients, and you will make meaningful contributions to the company’s success through teamwork, safety, and operational support.

Key Responsibilities (Including, but not limited to)
  • Attend and participate in daily job-specific safety meetings and huddles
  • Operate tamping machines and inspect equipment for daily use and maintenance
  • Assist with loading and unloading jobsite materials and maintaining clean work areas
  • Support excavation activities including trenching, shoring, backfilling, and conduit placement
  • Perform potholing of existing utilities and assist with setting structures
  • Support concrete forming, pouring, asphalt prep, and restoration activities
  • Additional responsibilities within functional scope based on business needs
Required Qualifications
Education, Licensing, and Certifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Valid driver’s license required
Experience
  • Basic construction industry knowledge preferred
  • Experience with underground utility construction preferred
Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to follow instructions and work effectively in a team environment
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong understanding of safety procedures and policies
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 75 lbs
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity
  • Ability to perform physical labor for extended periods in various weather conditions
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous underground utility construction experience
  • Experience operating small equipment and hand tools
  • CDL license preferred
  • Proven ability to work successfully as part of a team
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 75 lbs
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and perform manual labor for extended periods
  • Work performed outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Exposure to excavation sites, heavy equipment, dust, noise, and uneven terrain
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and MVR check
