Job summary

The South Dakota Science and Technology Authority (SDSTA) is seeking an Infrastructure Technician to support SURF in the Operations Division. The role focuses on construction, maintenance, and repair of surface and underground structures to ensure a safe environment and stable operations.

You will work with blueprints, operate heavy equipment, and perform rock bolting, shaft construction, material handling, and ventilation system upkeep, with shifts up to 12.5 hours on 7-on/7-off and compliance

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Experience in general construction practices (concrete, timber framing).
  • Experience in mining or shaft inspection/repair preferred.
  • Experience operating heavy machinery and equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and construct underground structures and systems to ensure safety and compliance.
  • Load, move, and prepare materials in shaft and cage operations; assist with hoisting and equipment handling.
  • Perform material inventories, transport coordination, and safety compliance activities.
  • Assist engineers and technicians in data collection and environmental, health, and safety policy applications.
  • Follow safety procedures and adapt to rotating shifts including weekends and holidays.
