Job summary

The South Dakota Science and Technology Authority (SDSTA) seeks an Underground Mitigation Technician to maintain and construct underground structures and related surface facilities at SURF to ensure a safe environment and structural integrity.

You will read engineers' blueprints, operate heavy machinery, manage materials, and coordinate with engineers and safety staff to perform inspections and repairs in an underground setting up to 5,000 feet deep.

Qualifications

• Experience in general construction practices, concrete work, timber framing.
• Mining industry or related field experience preferred.
• Experience operating heavy machinery and equipment.
• Knowledge of safety policies and procedures.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints.

Responsibilities

• Maintains and constructs underground structures and systems.
• Loads skips and cages, plans materials and personnel movements.
• Prepares and manages materials and supplies for underground operations.
• Assists engineers and technicians in data collection and analyses.
• Performs other duties as assigned and ensures safety compliance.
