Job description

Responsibilities

As the Underground Foreman, you will manage the entire underground utility project construction crew by directing work, reviewing schedules, and ensuring the work follows plan specifications and equipment needs.

  • Execute work plans and schedules following contract requirements, plans, and specifications.
  • Coordinate daily tasks, making changes as necessary due to weather, supply, delivery, and personnel.
  • Provide adequate resources and staffing to meet project schedules, laws, regulations, best practices, and safety needs.
  • Regularly report project status to supervisors, site engineers, and other officials.
  • Coordinate materials and equipment delivery with vendors and suppliers.
  • Create schedules for workers and subcontractors.
  • Maintain a daily log for the job site’s operations, reporting to management as necessary.
  • Maintain accurate reporting records including job quantities, productivity rates, timesheets, and daily management reports.
  • Ensure the timely completion of work assignments within the estimated costs.
  • Continuously check the work of the crew and adjust the work or plan and schedule as required, notifying project management staff.
  • Assist with various skilled trades and general construction duties as part of the construction crew leader to complete the project at hand.
  • Ensure adherence to field project processes and standard operating procedures among team members.
  • Train and develop crew members, provide leadership, promote morale and workplace safety, and ensure safety is practiced.
  • Actively support the Company’s Health and Safety Program, stay apprised of on‑site compliance and safety audits, and suspend or modify work practices as directed.
  • Verify all safety equipment needed for the project is used and maintain required certifications.
  • Work as a team player with co‑workers in a respectful and supportive manner, maintaining a constant state of alertness and safety.
  • Perform other duties as directed.
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Supervise and direct the underground utilities craft workers and subcontractors.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in the civil construction field.
  • Minimum of three years’ experience supervising a construction crew as Foreman or Lead.
  • Valid state driver’s license and ability to operate a vehicle under the Company’s Driving Policy.
  • Ability to pass drug, driving, and background screening.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Working knowledge of scheduling, material control, and unit manhour performance; estimating fundamentals and job cost management systems.
  • Experience with underground utility management.
  • OSHA 30‑hour training completion.
