Xcel Energy is seeking an Apprentice Cable Splicer Mechanic at the St. Paul Service Center in Saint Paul, MN. The position starts at $37.36 per hour and will be posted from October 19, 2026, to October 30, 2026. Responsibilities include underground distribution construction, maintenance, and emergency repairs.

Ideal candidates will participate in an apprenticeship, hold CDL Class A, and commit to safety and teamwork while advancing skills through ongoing training. Deadline to apply: 10/30/26.

Qualifications

• Must be willing to participate in an apprenticeship.
• Must meet Driver Qualification requirements including the possession of a valid Commercial Drivers License (CDL) Class A.
• Must be capable of performing aspects of the electric underground construction and maintenance.
• Will be required to actively participate in training and retraining programs.
• Will be required to complete all related paperwork in a timely manner.
• Must be available for emergency call-outs for overtime assignments.
• Must have effective communication skills (verbal and written).

Responsibilities

• Construct, maintain, and repair underground distribution systems and assets.
• Maintain vaults, pull cable, and splice conductors as needed.
• Work safely with a team and deliver consistent customer service.
