Undergraduate Studies Coordinator (Student Services Advisor II)

Location: Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences, Los Angeles, California

The University of Southern California (USC), founded in 1880, is located in downtown L.A. and is the largest private employer in the city. As part of USC, you will join a world-class research university and the 'Trojan Family'—a community of faculty, students, and staff committed to excellence.

The Department of English is seeking a Student Services Advisor II to provide high-quality student support and lead the undergraduate program. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in undergraduate student services, with the ability to work collaboratively and independently, prioritize tasks, and multitask effectively. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential.

Responsibilities:
  1. Provide leadership and guidance to other student services advisors, set priorities, monitor service delivery, and assist in resolving complex issues.
  2. Offer academic counseling to undergraduate and graduate students, advising on curriculum, degree requirements, transfer credits, and monitoring student progress.
  3. Evaluate student issues and refer them to appropriate offices; liaise with faculty and staff to facilitate solutions.
  4. Maintain academic records, coordinate registration, enrollment, and degree verification activities.
  5. Collaborate with faculty, administrators, and students regarding academic progress.
  6. Plan and coordinate student events such as commencement, orientation, and departmental receptions.
  7. Manage LEAP applications and advise the director on academic matters related to progressive degrees.
  8. Stay informed about policies and regulations related to admissions, financial aid, registration, and graduation requirements.
  9. Demonstrate proactive planning and excellent time management skills.
  10. Perform other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience
  • Knowledge of USC student programs, policies, and student information systems
  • Experience in student services and programming with leadership abilities
Compensation:

The hourly rate range for this position is $33.34 - $38.19. USC considers various factors when extending offers, including experience, education, skills, and market conditions.
