Job summary

AdventHealth Altamonte is seeking a Sterile Processing Technician for the night shift. This full-time role screens, cleans, and sterilizes instruments for surgical cases, maintains records, and supports supply management at the Altamonte Springs campus near Orlando.

Preferred qualifications include an Associate degree and CSPDT/CRCST certifications; CPR/BLS is encouraged. Competitive benefits from day one and opportunities for career development are offered.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher preferred for Sterile Processing roles.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Technician certifications preferred (CSPDT/CRCST) and CPR/BLS encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Receives soiled and contaminated instruments from surgery and nursing units.
• Prepares, cleans, and disinfects instruments and equipment; inspects for damage.
• Prepares items for sterilization and verifies quantities.
• Ensures sterilization procedures are followed and records kept accurately.
• Maintains supply levels and work area cleanliness; supports on-call and scheduling needs.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

• Receives soiled and contaminated instruments or equipment from surgery, anesthesia, and nursing units.
• Prepares, cleans, and disinfects instruments and equipment appropriately. Inspects all instruments and equipment for damages, malfunction, or unacceptable condition.
• Prepares instruments and equipment for sterilization by verifying correct items and quantities.
• Assures proper sterilization procedures are performed and the effectiveness of the sterilizing process.
• Maintains required records on sterilization and tracks equipment and instruments issued to nursing units.
• Assists with maintaining adequate supply levels and supply preparation for surgical cases.
• Maintains cleanliness and proper order in the work area. Demonstrates proficient use of all equipment and knowledge of stocking and par levels for nursing units.
• Shows dependability and flexibility in meeting the scheduling needs of the department.
• Assumes on-call assignments and takes responsibility for personal and professional development.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education:

• Associate [Preferred]
• High School Grad or Equiv [Required]
• Technical/Vocational School [Preferred]

Work Experience:

• Previous sterile processing technician experience [Preferred]

Licenses and Certifications:

• Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) [Preferred]
• Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) [Preferred]
• Certified Registered Central Service Tech (CRCST) [Preferred]
