Custer County Sheriff's Office is currently accepting applications for full-time Deputy Sheriffs. The starting wage is $26.32 per hour for uncertified officers. A $1.00 per hour shift differential is paid for hours worked between 6:00 PM and 6:00 AM.

Deputies are responsible for enforcing local and state laws, preventing and suppressing crime and accidents, serving legal processes, promoting public safety through community policing, and performing other duties as assigned. The Custer County Sheriff's Office also provides contract patrol services for the United States Forest Service and the City of Custer.
Custer County encompasses more than 1,500 square miles and is home to the Crazy Horse Memorial, Custer State Park, Wind Cave National Park, Jewel Cave National Monument, Black Hills National Forest, and Buffalo Gap National Grassland.
