Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid driver's license with an insurable driving history.
• No prior felony or simple assault, domestic violence convictions.
• Successful completion of a comprehensive background investigation.
• Ability to obtain South Dakota Law Enforcement Officers Standards and Training Commission certification within one year of hire.
• Availability to work all shifts, including weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Enforce local and state laws and promote public safety.
• Prevent and suppress crime and accidents.
• Serve legal processes and perform other duties as assigned.
• Participate in community policing and collaborative law enforcement efforts.
• Contract patrol services for the United States Forest Service and the City of Custer.
