Job Summary

Provide security detail as outlined in the post orders and establish working relationships with customers, local law enforcement, and fire departments. Security personnel must perform their duties with constant awareness of their surroundings, noting all activity in the assigned area. Maintaining a professional image and demonstrating excellent customer service are essential.

Basic Functions

• Control entrances and manage pedestrian and vehicle traffic.
• Patrol buildings and perimeters.
• Escort materials and personnel.
• Inspect security and fire exposures.
• Perform special assignments as needed.

Responsibilities

Duties may vary based on department size, organizational structure, location, and post assignments. Reasonable accommodations may be made for ADA requirements. General duties include:

• Reporting to post on time and in full uniform.
• Greeting customers, visitors, and employees politely and professionally.
• Staying updated on post orders and general information.
• Patrolling or maintaining fixed posts, reporting suspicious activity, and investigating incidents.
• Monitoring cameras and equipment as per post orders.
• Understanding emergency policies and procedures.
• Completing reports such as Daily Activity Reports, Log Book entries, and Incident Reports.
• Recommending safety and loss prevention measures.
• Knowing and ensuring the operation of life safety systems, fire panels, CCTV, and other equipment.
• Ensuring compliance with training guidelines and regulations.
• Communicating security issues or changes to the Security Supervisor daily.
