Job Summary

Provide security detail as outlined in the post orders and establish working relationships with customers, local law enforcement, and fire departments. Security personnel must perform their duties with constant awareness of their surroundings, noting all activity in the assigned area. Maintaining a professional image and demonstrating excellent customer service are essential.

Basic Functions

• Control of entrances and movement of pedestrian and vehicle traffic.
• Patrol of buildings and perimeters.
• Escort of material and personnel.
• Inspection of security and fire exposures.
• Performing special assignments as needed.

Responsibilities

Duties may vary depending on department size, organizational structure, geographic location, and post assignments. Reasonable accommodations may be made for ADA requirements. Overall, officers are responsible for:

• Reporting on time in full uniform.
• Greeting customers, visitors, and employees politely and professionally.
• Staying updated with all revisions to post orders and general information.
• Patrolling or maintaining a fixed post, reporting suspicious activity, and investigating incidents.
• Monitoring cameras and equipment as specified in post orders.
• Knowing emergency policies, procedures, and regulations to respond effectively to alarms and incidents.
• Completing daily reports, log entries, incident reports, and other relevant documentation.
• Recommending safety and loss prevention improvements.
• Understanding life safety systems, fire panels, CCTV, and other equipment to ensure proper operation.
• Ensuring compliance with training guidelines and regulations.
• Communicating security issues or changes to the Security Supervisor daily.
