Job Summary

Provide security detail as outlined in the post orders and establish working relationships with customers, local law enforcement, and fire departments. Security personnel will perform their duties with constant awareness of surroundings, noting all activity in the assigned area. Security Officers must maintain a professional image and demonstrate excellent customer service.

Basic Functions

1. Control of entrances and movement of pedestrian and vehicle traffic.
2. Patrol of buildings and perimeters.
3. Escort of material and personnel.
4. Inspection of security and fire exposures.
5. Performing special assignments as required.

Responsibilities

Duties may vary based on department size, organizational structure, location, and post assignments. Reasonable accommodations may be made for ADA requirements. Overall, officers are responsible for:

• Reporting on time in full uniform.
• Maintaining a professional image, greeting customers, visitors, and employees politely.
• Staying updated with post order revisions and general information.
• Patrolling property or maintaining a fixed post, reporting suspicious activity, and investigating incidents.
• Monitoring cameras and equipment as per post orders.
• Knowing emergency policies, procedures, and regulations to respond effectively to alarms and incidents.
• Completing daily reports, logs, incident reports, and related documentation.
• Recommending safety and loss prevention improvements.
• Understanding life safety systems, fire panels, CCTV, and other equipment to ensure operational safety.
• Ensuring compliance with training guidelines and regulations.
• Communicating security issues or changes to the Security Supervisor regularly.
