Job summary

Block by Block is hiring a Safety Ambassador to patrol assigned zones on foot or by bicycle, deter unwanted behavior, and assist pedestrians with directions and information.

Ideal candidates are 18+, with a valid TX Driver's License, a HS diploma or GED, and the ability to report in English. Training is provided, outdoors work in all weather, and uniforms are provided for all conditions.

Qualifications

• Experience required. We will train.
• Valid TX Driver's License required.
• Must have a H.S. Diploma or GED
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must have the physical capacity to walk or traverse (including riding a bike) continuously during an eight-hour shift, with two 15-minute breaks and a 30-minute lunch break.
• Must be able to work outdoors in all conditions (free uniforms provided)
• Must be able to speak, read, and write the English language in order to create basic reports.

Responsibilities

• Patrol the assigned zone on foot and/bike as a deterrent and be on the lookout for unwanted behavior and activity.
• Provide information, assistance, and directions to pedestrians and visitors. Must maintain a positive, professional demeanor at all times.
• Be watchful for unwanted behaviors or criminal activity and report to local authorities via established communication methods. Must be able to articulate an accurate description of persons, vehicles, and other identifiers.
• Firmly and courteously request compliance from persons violating low-level quality of life crimes, such as panhandling, loitering, disruptive behavior, etc.
• Actively acknowledge and engage pedestrians with a friendly greeting/smile in order to provide directions and city information.
• Responsible for making a specified number of visits to zone businesses to share information and gather contact information.
• Must be able to complete basic daily reports of tasks completed, which requires being proficient in speaking, reading, and writing the English language.

Pay Range: $23.75to $23.75 per hour (Weekly Pay & Pay Advance Before Payday!)

Shift/Schedule:

• AM Shift - 6:00am to 2:30pm
• PM Shift - 1:30pm to 10:00pm
