Job summary

Mercy Health is seeking a Protective Services Officer Unarmed for St. Charles Hospital to safeguard patients, visitors and staff. You will escort people, patrol grounds, monitor surveillance, and enforce hospital policies while coordinating with clinical teams and security partners.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, valid driver’s license, and BLS within 6 months of hire; 1–2 years in security preferred. Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training within 6 months of hire is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Vocational/Technical degree preferred.
• 1-2 years of security, law enforcement, or military experience (preferred).
• Valid driver’s license (required).
• BLS Basic Life Support – American Heart Association (required within 6 months of hire).

Responsibilities

• Protects patients, visitors and employees by providing escorts, patrolling grounds, and mitigating environment of care safety hazards.
• Deters criminal activity through routine patrols of all hospital property including parking areas.
• Enforces policies (parking regulations, visitation, drug enforcement, tobacco/smoking).
• Monitors activity on closed circuit television and coordinates with security and clinical teams as needed.
• Intervenes in confrontations and documents all duties via daily logs and incident reports.
