Position:

Staff Physician, Family Medicine and Community Health

Reports to:

Dr. Bosire, Interim Chair, Family Medicine and Community Health

Summary:

Provides primary care health services in accordance with training and clinic policies, serving a multicultural patient population. Responsibilities include taking patient histories, conducting examinations, diagnosing, ordering tests and referrals, and counseling patients and families.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide clinical care in 9 sessions per week at the Desai Sethi Medical Center.
• Manage all aspects of patient care during shifts.
• Supervise clinical staff, including Medical Assistants.
• Collect specimens and process laboratory tests.
• Complete medical records accurately and timely, adhering to policies.
• Coordinate referrals and follow-up care.
• Evaluate patients, establish diagnoses, and develop treatment plans.
• Maintain high standards of medical practice and contribute to team training.
• Educate patients and clinic staff on medical issues.
• Facilitate patient transitions within healthcare settings.
• Develop clinic protocols and participate in formulary decisions.
• Train medical students and residents; stipend provided for non-faculty physicians.
• Document procedures and contacts within 24 hours.
• Counsel patients on health and medical problems.
• Perform clinical procedures within scope and skill.
• Lead and supervise medical support staff.
• Supervise nurse practitioners and physician assistants, including chart reviews.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Chair.

Required Credentials:

• MD or DO, Florida Physician License
• Minimum three years in Family Medicine
• Graduation from an ACGME-accredited Family Medicine Residency
• Board certification in Family Medicine
• Active DEA license (state and federal)
• CPR certification
