Job summary

UC San Diego Health seeks a skilled sonographer to perform and record diagnostic ultrasound procedures, operating diverse equipment and ensuring high-quality images. The role includes mentoring junior staff and floating to specialty units as needed.

Minimum qualifications include RDMS in AB/OB/GYN, accredited program graduate, BART or BLS with commitment to obtain BART within 6 months, and at least two years of clinical experience. Flexibility for varied hours is required.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program or equivalent years of experience.
• Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) in AB and OB/GYN.
• BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date.
• Two (2) years of relevant clinical experience.
• Possess the skills, knowledge, and abilities essential to the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position.
• Excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform and record all sonographic procedures and assist with specialty procedures per guidelines.
• Operate various ultrasound equipment, transducers, and recording devices.
• Review, verify and evaluate images to ensure high quality.
• Troubleshoot and resolve ultrasound-related PACS issues.
• Float within department and assist mentoring of junior ultrasound technologists and students.
