Job Summary for Ultrasound Technologist: The ultrasound technologist performs a variety of ultrasound scanning and imaging procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision. Performs technical ultrasound procedures requiring independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative to apply prescribed ultrasound techniques for diagnosis. Assumes responsibility for designated areas or procedures as required.

• Performs all specialty areas of ultrasound exams, including assisting radiologists with procedures.
• Prepares and reviews images for interpretation by radiologists or physicians for diagnostic purposes.

Requirements

Experience:

• Required: Registered in vascular ultrasound.
• Required: RDMS, ARRT (US), or CCI certification or registry eligible with knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy and at least 6 months of practical ultrasound experience.
• Required: Appropriate registry in ultrasound specialty or active pursuit of registry in ultrasound specialty.
• Required: Completed required continuing education hours per certification or annual period to meet ARDMS, ARRT, federal, and other accrediting agency requirements.
• Required: CPR Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
