Qualifications

• Current Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Certification required.
• Plus specialized certifications as needed (ARMDS in Vascular).
• 1-3 years of technical ultrasound experience required.
• BLS through the American Heart Association required.

Responsibilities

• Prepares patient for ultrasound exam; positions patient and explains procedures to reduce anxiety.
• Obtains imaging and reports for correlation; consults with referring physician as needed.
• Sets up equipment and adjusts machine settings to ensure accurate results.
• Recognizes structures and differentiates artifacts from pathology; determine need for further evaluation.
