The role requires graduation from an approved ultrasound program, licensure/registration as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer and BLS certification, with the ability to follow departmental policies and maintain equipment.

Responsibilities

• Operates ultrasonic diagnostic equipment to examine various parts of the body including pelvis, abdomen, liver, gallbladder, pancreas, aorta, kidneys, heart, and pregnancy evaluation.
• Prepares patients for examinations by determining necessary anatomical positioning and following departmental policy.
• Sets up and operates ultrasound equipment; adjusts controls to obtain correct exposure and loads/unloads film as needed.
• Provides technical guidance and assistance to staff, students, and medical staff rotating through the area.
• Maintains records and statistics of ultrasound examinations; participates in research projects; maintains inventory and orders supplies; keeps equipment in proper working order and requests repairs as required.
• Ensures a high level of care for patients visiting the department; performs related duties as required.
