Job summary

University Hospital in Newark, NJ seeks an Ultrasound Technologist to perform general, OB/GYN, small parts and vascular ultrasound for inpatients and outpatients.

You will verify patient identity, prepare and position patients, and select appropriate probes while ensuring studies are properly documented in RIS/PACS and completed within shift goals.

Required ARDMS certification, BLS/CPR, annual fit testing, and graduation from an approved Ultrasound Program.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved Ultrasound Program; ARDMS certification with current active registration.
• Annual fit testing required.
• Maintain valid certification by the American Heart Association in BLS/CPR.

Responsibilities

• Verify patient identity 100% of the time.
• Explain procedure to patient and prepare accordingly.
• Position patient per protocol and physician instructions.
• Determine ultrasound technique and select probes appropriately.
• Ensure procedures are completed in RIS and verified in PACS.
• Complete 8–10 routine exams on an eight-hour shift where feasible.
