Job summary

University Hospital in Newark, NJ seeks an Ultrasound Technologist to provide ultrasound services under physician interpretation, serving patients from newborn to maturity. The role emphasizes professional judgment and adherence to department guidelines within a teaching hospital setting.

The successful candidate will be ARDMS-certified with active registration, BLS/CPR certified, and able to perform exams using RIS and PACS, with strict compliance to consent and documentation protocols.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an approved Ultrasound Program.
• ARDMS certification and active registration required.
• Annual fit testing required.
• BLS/CPR certification required.

Responsibilities

• Positions patient in accordance with established protocols or physician instructions.
• Determines proper ultrasound technique with appropriate probes.
• Verified informed consent where required.
• Contributes to department excellence through adherence to standards.
• Ensures procedures are completed in RIS and verified in PACS after study.
• Performs and completes an average of 10 routine exams over an eight-hour shift.
