Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking an Ultrasound Technologist to provide direct patient care and perform diagnostic ultrasound exams in a fast-paced clinical setting. The role requires independence under a Radiologist and adherence to department standards.

Under supervision of the Lead Ultrasound Technologist, you will gather clinical data, document findings, and assist with interventional procedures. Travel between Marlborough and Nashoba/Groton may be required.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Ultrasonography or Radiologic Technology program.
• ARDMS registration in one category within 12 months of hire date.
• Preferred: Associate degree.

Responsibilities

• Perform ultrasound examinations per patient age and department standards.
• Collect pertinent clinical data and maintain accurate patient records.
• Complete all records, paperwork, and billings promptly.
• Position and transfer patients and assist physicians with interventional exams.
• Assist radiologists with ultrasound-guided interventional procedures.

Hiring Range: $35.94 - $58.96 Please note that the final offer may vary within this range based on a candidate's experience, skills, qualifications, and internal equity considerations.

Schedule Details: Monday through Friday, Weekends - Every Other Weekend

Under the supervision of the Lead Ultrasound Technologist, provides direct patient care services and other related functions in support of the department. Performs independently within scope of department policies. Clinically works at the direction of a qualified Radiologist.

I. Major Responsibilities:

• 1. Properly performs all ultrasound techniques and examinations, consistent with the age of the patient, in in-patient or outpatient settings, in compliance with departmental and professional standards and protocols.
• 2. Gather pertinent clinical data and maintains accurate patient records.
• 3. Accurately completes all records, paperwork , and billings and submits promptly .
• 4. Positions and transfers patients appropriately and assists physicians with interventional exams.
• 5. Promptly and properly completes exams, performs QC to images and send exams to PACS for review by the radiologist.
• 6. Assists the radiologists with ultrasound guided interventional procedures.
• 7. Follow Universal protocol in accordance with hospital policy and procedure.
• 8. Assists in maintaining an orderly inventory and in arranging the purchase of needed supplies.
• 9. Monitors equipment to ensure that it remains in proper working order and ensures that proper supplies are available as needed.
• 10. Utilizes proper sterilization and cleansing of all probes according to department policy and procedure.
• 11. Assists with other job-related duties including film processing, urgent requests, and scheduling.
• 12. Travel between Marlborough and Nashoba/Groton as scheduled to provide operational, administrative, or departmental support.
• 13. The float requirements only apply to UMass Memorial Nashoba Valley's newly hired staff

II. Position Qualifications:

License/Certification/Education:

Required:

• 1. Graduate of an accredited Ultrasonography or R adiological Technology program.
• 2. Registration required by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) in one category within one year of hire date.

Preferred:

• 1. Associate degree

Experience/Skills:

Required:

• 1. Minimum one year of experience in diagnostic ultrasound under the direction of a qualified physician .
• 2. Knowledge consistent with outlines in Physics and Instrumentation, Abdominal OB/Gyn Ultrasound for ARDMS exams .
• 3. Demonstrated ability to provide quality patient care with minimal supervision in a fast-paced setting, collaborating with peers to produce optimum results.
• 4. Verbal and written communication skills to effectively communicate with patients and families .

Preferred:

• Unless certification, licensure or registration is required , an equivalent combination of education and experience which provides proficiency in the areas of responsibility listed in this description may be substituted for the above requirements.
