Job summary

Mercy in Missouri seeks a Lead Sonographer to operate ultrasound imaging equipment, coordinate daily workflow, and serve as a lead when leadership is unavailable. The role focuses on patient-centered care, technical excellence, and collaborative communication with the health team.

Requirements include graduation from an accredited Sonography program with clinical hours, 2 years of experience or a Bachelor degree, state licensure if required, and ARDMS/ARRT/CCI certifications plus BLS.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited school of Sonography and completed required clinical hours.
  • Experience: 2 years of relevant experience OR graduate of Bachelor degree program.
  • License: State licensure may be required depending on the specific state of practice.
  • Certifications/Registrations: ARDMS/ARRT/CCI and 2 applicable advanced registries/certifications; Basic Life Support (BLS).
  • In Arkansas, ARDMS-RVT or CCI-RVS or ARRT-VS may be required within 12 months of hire/transfer.

  • Ability to lead and motivate a team, manage schedules, and coordinate daily operations.
  • Capability to make informed decisions regarding imaging procedures, patient care, and team management.
  • Ability to handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously, such as performing imaging procedures while supervising team members.
  • Knowledge in proficiency producing diagnostic images with the ability to recognize technical abnormalities
  • Knowledge of a variety of advanced procedures as applicable
  • Knowledge of safe & proper machine operation, machine emergency procedures and radiation safety procedures.
  • Knowledge of protocols and ability to make adjustments as needed
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow complex instructions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
Physical Requirements
  • Position requires the ability to push, pull, and/or lift 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
  • Position requires prolonged standing and walking during each shift.
  • Position requires the ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.
