Job summary

Mercy is seeking an Advanced Sonographer to operate ultrasound imaging equipment and software, supporting diagnosis and treatment. This role involves leading in absence of supervisors and acting as an expert resource while assisting with training and ensuring imaging standards.

Strong communication with patients and healthcare teams is essential, along with ensuring safety and high-quality image acquisition.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a school of Sonography with completed clinical hours.
• 2 years of relevant experience.
• State licensure may be required depending on the state.
• ARDMS/ARRT/CCI certifications and 3 advanced registries or 2 registries with 5 years experience and BLS.

Responsibilities

• Lead when direct leadership is unavailable.
• Serve as an expert resource for imaging procedures.
• Assist in training and onboarding of staff.
• Ensure patient safety and imaging standards; communicate with clinicians.

Position Details

Minimum Requirements

Education: Graduate of a school of Sonography and completed required clinical hours

Experience: 2 years of relevant experience

License: State licensure may be required depending on the specific state of practice.

Certifications/Registries: ARDMS/ARRT/CCI and 3 applicable advanced registries/certifications within the applicable work area OR 2 applicable advanced registries/certifications within the applicable work area and 5 years of applicable experience; Basic Life Support (BLS)

In the state of Arkansas, ARDMS-RVT OR CCI-RVS OR ARRT-VS may be required within 12 months of hire and/or transfer depending on scope of role.

• Thorough understanding of protocols and ability to make adjustments as needed.
• Knowledge in producing diagnostic images with the ability to recognize technical abnormalities.
• Knowledge of advanced procedures and/or invasive procedures, if applicable
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow complex instructions.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment.
• Flexibility to handle multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities.
• Knowledge of quality assurance protocols and accreditation standards.

Physical Requirements

• Position requires the ability to push, pull, and/or lift 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
• Position requires prolonged standing and walking during each shift.
• Position requires the ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties.
