Job summary

Tidelands Health is seeking an Ultrasound Technologist II to perform diagnostic sonograms with a high level of technical competency. The role includes outpatient and inpatient responsibilities, shift rotation, and potential mentoring of students.

An ARDMS credential and BLS are required, with on-site duties and a 8-hour day shift. Candidates should have a Medical Sonography certificate or an Associate’s degree and at least one year of sonography experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Certificate in Medical Sonography program required.
• Associate’s Degree in Medical Sonography program required.
• ARDMS registration must be completed within 24 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Review outpatient orders prior to day of procedure to ensure accuracy and to avoid delay in patient care.
• Provide excellent patient care by educating and preparing patients for their procedure while utilizing effective communication.
• Position patients so desired anatomy will be demonstrated and ensure patient comfort and safety for the duration of their procedure.
• Obtain and document accurate patient medical history to assist radiologist’s interpretation.
• Perform a variety of diagnostic sonograms including abdomen, aorta, RUQ, OB/GYN exams, pelvis, small parts, pediatrics, and procedures such as biopsies and aspirates.
• Complete the exam in the hospital information system.
• Clean and maintain all imaging equipment.
• May assist with mentoring and training students or new hires.
