Job summary

Tidelands Health in Murrells Inlet, SC, seeks an Ultrasound Technologist IIA to perform diagnostic sonograms with technical proficiency and initiative. You will review outpatient orders, explain procedures to patients, position them for optimal imaging, and document history to aid radiologist interpretation.

You will perform abdomen, OB/GYN, small parts, pediatrics exams and biopsies using a range of equipment; maintain equipment, participate in on-call rotations, and mentor trainees as needed,

Qualifications

• Certificate or degree in Medical Sonography as required.
• 1+ year Sonography experience preferred.
• Certification in ARDMS or equivalent expected within 24 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Review outpatient orders prior to the day of the procedure to ensure accuracy.
• Educate and prepare patients for their procedure while using effective communication.
• Position patients so the desired anatomy is demonstrated and ensure patient comfort and safety.
• Perform diagnostic sonograms across abdomen, OB/GYN, small parts, pediatrics as listed in orders.
• Document exams in the hospital information system and maintain equipment.
• May mentor students or new hires and assist with training.

Employees in this position will be responsible for inpatient on-call and shift rotation.What you will doReview outpatient orders prior to day of procedure to ensure accuracy and to avoid delay in patient care.Provide excellent patient care by educating and preparing patients for their procedure while utilizing effective communication.Position patients so desired anatomy will be demonstrated and ensure patient comfort and safety for the duration of their procedure.Obtain and document accurate patient medical history to assist radiologist’s interpretation.Perform a variety of diagnostic sonograms to include but not limited to Abdomen- Aorta, right upper quadrant, renal, renal doppler, OB GYN- first, second, and third trimester fetal examinations, pelvis- trans abdominal and transvaginal. Small parts- thyroid, extremity, scrotum, and breast. Pediatrics- pylorus, spine, hips.
