Tidelands Health invites you to join our team as Ultrasound Technologist II. As the region's largest health care provider with 2,500+ team members across 70 locations, we value quality and excellence in diagnostic sonography.

You will perform a range of diagnostic sonograms, review orders, educate patients, document history, and assist radiologists. On-call rotation is included, and mentoring may occur for students and new hires.

Qualifications

  • Certificate or AS degree in Medical Sonography required.
  • 1+ year of Sonography experience preferred.
  • ARDMS registry within 24 months of hire date or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Review outpatient orders to ensure accuracy and avoid delays.
  • Educate and prepare patients for procedures with clear communication.
  • Position patients to visualize targeted anatomy and ensure comfort.
  • Obtain and document patient history to assist radiologists.
  • Perform abdomen, OB/GYN, pelvis, small parts and pediatric exams.
  • Perform biopsies and standard diagnostic sonograms as ordered.
  • Complete exams in hospital information system; maintain equipment.
  • Mentor/train students or new staff when needed.

Ultrasound Technologist II

A Brief Overview

Ultrasound Technologist performs diagnostic medical sonograms at a technical level requiring sound understanding of anatomy measurements and abnormal or suspicious anatomy; a high degree of technical competency and with the ability to act with initiative and ingenuity with minimal supervision. Employees in this position will be responsible for inpatient on-call and shift rotation.

What you will do

Review outpatient orders prior to day of procedure to ensure accuracy and to avoid delay in patient care.

Provide excellent patient care by educating and preparing patients for their procedure while utilizing effective communication.

Position patients so desired anatomy will be demonstrated and ensure patient comfort and safety for the duration of their procedure.

Obtain and document accurate patient medical history to assist radiologist’s interpretation.

Perform a variety of diagnostic sonograms to include but not limited to:

  • Abdomen - Aorta, right upper quadrant, renal, renal doppler
  • OB GYN - first, second, and third trimester fetal examinations
  • Pelvis - trans abdominal and transvaginal
  • Small parts - thyroid, extremity, scrotum, and breast
  • Pediatrics - pylorus, spine, hips

Procedures - Biopsies of thyroid, liver, lymph nodes, renal, aspirations, paracentesis, and thoracentesis.

Perform standard diagnostic sonogram procedures as required by physician’s order.

Determine and set appropriate technical parameters to accurately demonstrate anatomy and pathology.

Completion of exam in hospital information system.

Cleaning and maintaining all imaging equipment.

May also assist with mentoring and/or training students, new hires.

Education and Qualifications

Certificate under the completion of a Medical Sonography program

Required or Associate's Degree under the completion of a Medical Sonography program

Experience Qualifications

At least one (1) year Sonography experience

Licenses and Certifications

Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer - American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (Non-registered sonographers must successfully complete the ARDMS registry within 24 months of hire date)

Required Basic Life Support Certified - American Heart Association within 30 Days Required
