Job summary

Tidelands Health in Murrells Inlet, SC is seeking a CT Technologist IIA to join our radiology team. You will operate CT equipment, prepare patients, administer contrast, and collaborate with radiologists to produce high-quality cross-sectional images.

Responsibilities include reviewing outpatient orders, documenting patient history, applying ALARA principles, starting IVs, and training students as needed. Night shift with on-call rotation available at multiple locations may apply.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in radiologic technology or CT certification program.
  • Minimum 1 year radiologic technology experience.
  • Minimum 1 year CT experience preferred.
  • CT certification must be obtained within 24 months of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Review outpatient orders prior to procedure day to ensure accuracy and avoid delays.
  • Educate and prepare patients for procedures, using effective communication.
  • Obtain and document accurate patient history for radiologist interpretation.
  • Operate CT equipment and set technical parameters to image anatomy and pathology.
  • Position and instruct patients, use shielding and immobilization as required.
  • Perform diagnostic procedures (x-ray) and various imaging as needed.
  • Administer contrast dye and start IV/injector per protocol.
  • Maintain imaging equipment cleanliness and assist with training students.

More than 2,500 team members at more than 70 Tidelands Health locations bring our healing mission to life each day.A Brief OverviewThe Computed Tomography (CT) Technologist is a highly skilled professional who uses specialized computerized x-ray equipment to produce cross sectional images of human anatomy which aid radiologists in diagnosing a wide variety of diseases and disorders. Technologist may perform radiographic procedures at a technical level requiring sound understanding of anatomical positioning and physiology; a high degree of technical competency and with the ability to act with initiative and ingenuity with minimal supervision. Apply ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis in adult and/or pediatric radiology as needed. Employees in this position will be responsible for inpatient on-call and shift rotation.What you will doReview outpatient orders prior to day of procedure to ensure accuracy and to avoid delay in patient care.Provide excellent patient care by educating and preparing patients for their procedure while utilizing effective communication.Obtain and document accurate patient medical history to assist radiologist’s interpretation.Prepare to operate CT equipment to capture the appropriate images following the protocol set forth by the radiologist, and determine and set appropriate technical parameters to accurately demonstrate anatomy and pathology.Position and instruct patient while utilizing protective shielding, immobilization, and supportive devices as required.Perform and complete procedures as required based on physician’s order, and a variety of diagnostic procedures (x-ray); including but not limited to digital and mobile imaging as needed at applicable locations.Administer contrast dye when necessary to enhance imaging and ensure patient comfort and safety for the duration of their procedure.Start I.V., load and operate power injector, and administer contrast media as directed and per protocol.Cleaning and maintaining all imaging equipment.May also assist with mentoring and/or training students, new hires.Education QualificationsAssociate's Degree under the completion of a Radiologic Technology program Required orCertificate under the completion of CT technology certification program RequiredExperience QualificationsMinimum one (1) year Radiologic Technology experience RequiredMinimum one (1) year CT experience PreferredSkills and AbilitiesUnderstand and utilize ALARA concepts and critical thinkingTime managementEffective communicationProficiency in IV access for contrast media administrationLicenses and CertificationsComputed Tomography - American Registry Radiologic Technologist or registry eligible (if eligible, CT certification must be obtained within 24 months of hire/transfer date) RequiredComputed Tomography - South Carolina Radiation Quality Standards Association RequiredBasic Life Support Certified - American Heart Association RequiredPhysical DemandMedium Physical DemandThe intent of this job description is to provide a representative and level of the types of duties and responsibilities that will be required of positions given this title and shall not be construed as a contract for employment nor a declaration of the total of the specific duties and responsibilities of any particular position.
