Qualifications

• Proficiency in the technical field of medical sonography and ultrasound scanning.
• Certification or registry eligibility in diagnostic sonography (ARDMS or ARRT) and CPR.
• Knowledge of hospital ultrasound unit operations and policies.

Responsibilities

• Performs all ultrasound procedures on assigned patients.
• Correlates clinical history and gathers pertinent diagnostic information.
• Interprets scans for diagnostic quality and reports findings under supervision.
• Maintains skills for new exams and equipment and develops proficiency.
• Prepares and instructs patients prior to procedures.
• Processes and reconciles images in PACS; ensures image quality.
• May perform ultrasound-guided biopsies when required.
• Conducts quality assurance checks as needed and documents results.
• Uses Radiology Information System to manage patient data and workflows.
• Maintains unit records and daily logs; supports a positive team environment.
• Maintains ACR accreditation for the ultrasound department.
