Job summary

Fairview Health Services is seeking an Ultrasound Technologist to join the vascular imaging team at the Maplewood Clinic and Specialty Center. This casual, on-demand role supports day shifts, Monday through Friday from 7:15 AM to 4:30 PM, performing diagnostic ultrasound exams under Radiologist supervision.

Responsibilities include educating patients, preparing for exams, coordinating interdepartmental care, and ensuring accurate requisitions and charges.

Qualifications

• Basic Life Support (American Heart Assoc or Red Cross)
• Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (or registry eligible) within 90 days

Responsibilities

• Performs a wide variety of thorough, diagnostic ultrasound exams.
• Educates patients prior to and during the ultrasound exam; reduces anxiety.
• Prepares for exams by reading orders, reviewing history, coordinating with clinicians, and gathering supplies.
• Supports interventional procedures by coordinating care, setting up equipment, and following sterile technique.
• Makes quick, patient-centered decisions during high volume/rapid change periods.
• Maintains a clean, organized patient environment and stock supplies.
• Completes requisitions and charges promptly to ensure timely diagnosis and care.
• Keeps knowledge of laws, regulations, policies and standards; participates in improvements.

Job Overview

Here at Fairview, we are now seeking an Ultrasound Technologist to join our vascular imaging team at our Maplewood Clinic and Specialty Center! This is a casual position that will work as needed by the department on the day shift, Monday through Friday from 7:15AM - 4:30PM.

Performs diagnostic Ultrasound exams under the direction of a Radiologist.

Responsibilities

• Performs a wide variety of thorough, diagnostic ultrasound exams.


• Educates patients prior to and throughout their ultrasound exam. Ensures all patient questions are answered and focuses on minimizing patient anxiety.


• Prepares for exams prior to patient's arrival. This includes reading the provider s order, reviewing pertinent medical history, consulting with clinician or radiologist, preparing paperwork and gathering supplies.


• Facilitates the performance of interventional procedures such as reading the provider s order, gathering medical history, coordinating care with other departments, setting up correct equipment and supplies, using proper sterile technique and communicating appropriately with performing physician.


• Makes quick and patient focused decisions in times of high patient volume and rapid change.


• Keeps patient environment and workspace clean and organized, which includes stocking linen and supplies in an organized and timely manner.


• Completes requisitions and charges for supplies in a timely and accurate manner, ensuring our patients receive prompt diagnosis and care.


• Maintains knowledge of, and complies with, all relevant laws, regulations, policies, procedures, and standards.


• Actively participates in creating and implementing improvements

Required Qualifications

• Basic Life Support (American Heart Assoc or Red Cross)


• Regist Diag Med Sonographer within 90 Days

Preferred Qualifications

• 1 year hospital-based experience


• Proficiency in breast, general, interventional, OB and vascular ultrasound
