Role Description

This full-time, on-site Ultrasound Technologist role is based at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital in St Pete Beach, FL. The Ultrasound Technologist performs diagnostic ultrasound examinations, including general, pediatric, and vascular studies, following established protocols and safety standards. Daily responsibilities include preparing patients and families for procedures, operating and maintaining ultrasound equipment, capturing high-quality images, and collaborating with physicians and radiology team members to support accurate diagnoses. The role involves documenting findings in the electronic medical record, adhering to regulatory and departmental guidelines, and participating in quality assurance and process improvement activities. The technologist also educates patients and caregivers about procedures, supports a child- and family-centered care environment, and may assist in training new staff or students.

Qualifications

• Diagnostic imaging and credentialing skills, including current or eligible certification with the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) and/or American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
• Clinical knowledge in radiology and medicine, with experience performing pediatric and general ultrasound examinations in a hospital or clinical setting.
• Competence in vascular imaging techniques, including non-invasive vascular studies and Doppler ultrasound, with the ability to follow standardized protocols.
• Graduate of an accredited diagnostic medical sonography or radiologic technology program; associate or bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and familiarity with infection control, patient safety, and radiation/ultrasound safety standards.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with children, families, and interdisciplinary care teams in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to prioritize multiple examinations, maintain accurate documentation, and support teaching and research initiatives as needed.
• Previous pediatric hospital experience and additional specialty certifications (e.g., pediatric, vascular, or obstetric sonography) are beneficial.
