Job summary

Reston Hospital Center is seeking a skilled Ultrasound Technologist to perform diagnostic ultrasound procedures in a fast-paced setting. You will ensure patient safety, explain procedures, and maintain strict privacy and documentation standards.

Qualified candidates will have an AMA-approved ultrasound program or equivalent, and RDMS credentials with BCLS within 30 days. This role supports the hospital's image-guided care and patient-centered approach at our Reston, VA campus.

Qualifications

• Graduate of program in Ultrasound Technology approved by the Council on Medical Education of the AMA or documented equivalent education, experience, and training.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date
• (RDMS) Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer

Responsibilities

• Performs all ultrasound procedures per department policy and regulatory requirements.
• Communicates to patient the nature of the procedure and answers questions.
• Demonstrates age-related considerations in practice.
• Maintains patient rights and privacy.
• Reports issues to Technical Director.
• Maintains department records documentation.
• Performs abdominal ultrasound studies within 45 minutes or less.
• Performs miscellaneous ultrasound (thyroid, carotids) within 30 minutes or less.
• Performs renal ultrasonography within 1 hour 30 minutes or less.
• Performs limited abdominal ultrasonography (gall bladder, aorta, renal) within 30 minutes or less.

Education

Graduate of ultrasound program approved by the Council on Medical Education of the AMA or documented equivalent education, experience, and training.

Job Summary and Qualifications

• Performs all ultrasound procedures in strict accordance with currently approved practices as outlined in department policy and procedure manuals and complying with all applicable federal, state, local and other regulatory requirements.
• Communicates to the patient the nature of the procedure and answers questions clarifying the procedure for the patient.
• Demonstrates practical application of age-related factors.
• Assures patients rights and privacy are maintained.
• Reports any significant problems related to patient, physicians, ultrasound procedures, housekeeping, maintenance, supplies, or personnel to Technical Director.
• Responsible for proper documentation and maintenance of all required department records.
• Perform diagnostic abdominal ultrasound studies in 45 minutes or less.
• Perform miscellaneous diagnostic ultrasound (i.e. thyroid, carotids) in 30 minutes of less.
• Perform diagnostic renal ultrasonography in one hour 30 minutes of less.
• Perform limited abdominal ultrasonography (i.e., gall bladder, aorta, renal) in 30 minutes of less.

What qualifications you will need:

• Graduate of program in Ultrasound Technology approved by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association or documented equivalent education, experience, and training.
