Job summary

White Memorial Hospital is seeking a part-time ultrasound technologist to perform general, obstetric, vascular studies and vein mapping. The shift is Monday, Tuesday and Friday, 7:00am to 3:30pm, on-site in the imaging department.

You will operate ultrasound equipment independently, evaluate images for diagnostic quality, and collaborate with radiologists to provide accurate information. This role requires BLS and ARDMS/ARRT/CCI credentials or active pursuit within the timeframe.

Qualifications

  • Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association is required.
  • 0–3 years of relevant ultrasound experience preferred.
  • Must meet credentialing requirements for ARDMS/ARRT/CCI as applicable.
  • Must be able to maneuver equipment and adapt patient positioning as needed.
  • May be required to obtain ISDH license if applicable.

Responsibilities

  • Provide diagnostic ultrasound imaging to generate high-quality studies.
  • Operate ultrasound equipment independently and adjust settings for best images.
  • Collaborate with radiologists to ensure accurate diagnostic information.
  • Ensure patient safety, comfort, and proper positioning during procedures.
  • Assist with minimally invasive procedures and intraoperative ultrasound as requested.

Job description

We are searching for team members who are passionate about challenging and exciting work for the good of every patient!

This position is part time, days. The shift is Monday, Tuesday and Friday, from 7am-3:30pm, at White Memorial Hospital. It is preferred that technologist be able to perform general ultrasound, OB, vascular studies and vein mapping exams.

Provides diagnostic patient care services using ultrasound to generate images of patients' internal organs, tissues, and blood flow. Responsible for the independent operation of sonographic equipment. Evaluates images for diagnostic quality and makes necessary adjustments to capture the best possible images. Collaborates with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to provide accurate diagnostic information. Ensures patient safety and comfort during procedures by explaining the process, positioning patients correctly, and adjusting equipment as needed. Familiar with current scan protocols. Maintains compliance with high level disinfection practices. Assists with minimally invasive procedures as needed. Possesses familiarity with ultrasound contrast indications and administration practices. Provides intraoperative ultrasound as requested.

  • Requires 0-3 years of relevant experience.
  • Basic Life Support certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) is required.
  • Requires ability to maneuver equipment and improvise positions when the condition of the patient does not permit routine positioning.
  • For ACR accredited ultrasound departments. Requires active status through one of the following: American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS): Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer - Abdomen, RDMS(AB), Obstetrics & Gynecology, RDMS(OB/GYN), or Pediatric Sonography, RDMS(PS), and/or Registered Vascular Technologist - Vascular Technology , RVT(VT); American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT): Registered Technologist - Sonography, RT(S) or Vascular Sonography, RT(VS) ; or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI): Registered Vascular Sonographer, RVS; as required by facility accreditation, if applicable. Exception: if performing breast ultrasound only, must obtain credential through American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS): RDMS(BR); or American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT): Registered Technologist - Sonography & Breast US, RT(S)(BS), or Radiography , Mammography & Breast Ultrasound, RT(R)(M)(BS); within 18 months of hire.
  • For non-ACR accredited ultrasound departments. Requires candidates to meet one of the two following conditions: Must be actively pursuing ultrasound education and have already passed the ARDMS physics boards, or must have graduated from an ultrasound education program. Requires certification through one of the methods mentioned in the accredited section above within 12 months of hire.
  • May be required to meet registry/certification requirements for another modality, if applicable.
  • May require license from Indiana State Department of Health (ISDH), if applicable.
